Pheasant Tail Nymph

The Pheasnt Tail Nymph is, without a doubt, the best mayfly nymph pattern ever designed.  It represents swimmer type mayfly nymphs such as Baetis (Blue Winged Olive), Callibaetis (Speckle Wing Quill), Siphlonurus (Gray Drake), and Ameletus (Brown Dun); and also matches the profile of a Chironomid Pupa.  If tied with a flashback, it resembles a mayfly nymph just before emergence and also helps catch the eye of a trout. It works very effectively in the moving water of streams or the still water of lakes, and is one of the most popular trout patterns sold.
